All of our runs can be split down into two categories - 19G Pens and 16G pens.

This refers to what wire mesh the run is made up of and therefore which animal they're suitable to house and/or deter.

Starting with our standard 19G wire mesh.

This comes in either a 1" x 1", 1/2" x 1" or a 1/2" x 1/2" hole size and is approximately 1mm thick.

19G wire is strong enough for animals such as chickens, rabbits, tortoises, guinea pigs, small birds such as finches, small fowl such as pheasants and similar.

We always disclose however that even though this wire will keep the above animal in this will NOT keep larger animals / predators out!

This means if you were needing a fox proof or rat proof run you would need the latter 16G mesh.

We also always urge customers NOT to use 19G panels to house cats. The thin nature of this wire can be harmful to cats if they choose to climb the panels.

We also recommend a 16G wire to prevent cats cutting their paws as 16G wire is thicker and therefore doesn't create a "cheese cutter" affect.

The 19G wire panels are made using a baton framing which is pressure treated and coated in an animal friendly stain.

All our remaining runs, Catios and dog runs will be made using our stronger 16G wire.

This comes in either a 2" x 2", 1" x 1", 1/2" x 1" or a 1/2" x 1/2" hole size and is approximately 1.6mm thick.

16G wire is strong enough for all animals up to the equivalent of a medium size dog.

All hole sizes will keep out predators such as dogs and foxes however we would recommend a 1/2" x 1/2" for smaller bests such as rats, minks and birds of prey.

All of our catios and free standing cat runs are made with a 16G wire mesh as this is classifies as cat safe.

We also recommend a 16G wire to prevent cats cutting their paws as 16G wire is thicker and therefore doesn't create a "cheese cutter" affect.

The 16G wire panels are made using a 2" x 2" framing which is pressure treated and coated in an animal friendly stain.
